2nd ANNUAL
GSL SHAMROCK SHOOTOUT RESULTS
The 2nd Annual
GSL Shamrock Shoot-Out, March 6-8, 2009 is in the books now. We
were provided with an exciting weekend of hockey at the Peewee
Tier-III Division with teams from Franklin County Hockey, MA;
Billerica, MA; Seattle, WA and Keene, NH battling for the Championship
along with teams at the Peewee Tier IV Division from Waltham,
MA; Hanover, MA; Troy, NY and Schenectady, NY competing for the
Championship.
The Peewee Tier III Division came out of the
gates with fast-paced, hard hitting hockey on Friday night with
Seattle, WA out scoring Franklin County Hockey Assoc., MA 6-3.
Scoring for Seattle came from Mark Whitney with 1 goal and an
assist; Chris Kim with 1 goal; Nick Schevbuin with 2 goals; Nora
Keady with an assist; Kevin Syiridyuk with 1 goal and an assist;
Luke Robledo with an assist; Kody Castner with 1 goal and David
Kvacyuk with an assist. F.C.H.A. scoring came from Jourdan York-Welcome
with 2 goals; Ryan Lenois with 2 assists; George Atkins with an
assist; Domenic Senerchia with a goal and Ezra Cushing with an
assist.
The action
continued Friday night with Keene, NH skated by Billerica, MA
by a score of 5-2. Scoring for Keene, NH came from Will Silverstein
with 1 goal and an assist; Ethan Lord by 2 assists; Cam Jessup
with 1 goal and an assist; Collin Stroshine with 2 assists; Chad
Reilly with 1 goal; Peter Brown with a goal and Jacob Bissell
with an assist. Billerica’s scoring came from Anthony Diperri
with 1 goal; Brett Mitza with 2 assists; Matthew Paolicelli with
an assist; Nicholas Covino with a goal and Cameron Durgin with
an assist.
There was lack of action or excitement when the games picked up
on Saturday where they left off Frtiday night. Keene, NH battled
F.C.H.A., MA to a 4-4 tie with scoring for Keene coming from Gunnar
Stone leading the way with a hat-trick (3 goals) and Jacob Bissell
with 1 goal and 1 assist. F.C.H.A. scoring was led by Domenic
Senerchia with a hat-trick (3 goals); Jourdan York-Welcome with
1 goal; Ezra Cushing with an assist and Ryan Lenois with an assist.
Seattle powered by Billerica by a score of 3-2 with scoring for
Seattle coming from Mark Whitney scoring 2 goals; Jake Desharnois
with 2 assist; Conner McMahon with an assist; Nick Scherbuin with
a goal; Kevin Sviridyuk with an assist and Nora Keedy with an
assist. Billerica came out with Conner Mullen with a goal; Brett
Mitza with 1 goal and 1 assist; Cameron Durgin with an assist
and Adam Kubiak with an assist.
In the arfternoon
round the action continued with Billerica skating past F.C.H.A.
3-2 with scoring from Billerica coming from Nicholas Covino scoring
2 goals; Anthony Diperri with 1 assist; Conner Finnegan with 1
goal; Kyle Moore with 2 assists and Conner Mullen with 2 asists.
F.C.H.A. contributed to the scoring with Domenic Senerchia with
2 goals and Ezra Cushing with an assist. Seattle powered past
Keene by a score of 5-1 with scoring for Seattle from David Kvacyuk
contributing 1 goal and an assist; Martk Whitney with 2 goals
and 2 assists; Jake Desharnois with 2 goals and 2 assists; Conner
McMahon with an assist. Keene’s sole goal came from Collin
Strtoshine assisted by Ethan Lord and Peter Brown. The competition
was set for Sunday with Billerica facing off against F.C.H.A.
in the Consolation Game and Seattle facing off against Keene in
the Championship Games on Sunday.
Sunday morning
the excitement continued when Billerica faced off against F.C.H.A.
in the Consolation Game. F.C.H.A. scoring came from Ezra Cushing
with 2 goals; Jourdan York-Welcome with a hat-trick (3 goals);
Domenic Senerchia with 2 assists; Thomas Aurigemma with 2 assists;
George Atkins with a assist; Jack Conant with an assist and Jeremy
Durant with an assist. Billerica’s sole goal came from Conner
Finnegan with an assist from Nicholas Covino. F.C.H.A. powered
past Billerica 5-1 earning them third place and Billerica fourth
place. Following the game Billerica was presented the 4th place
trophy and F.C.H.A. awarded the 3rd place trophy. Coaches and
players each received a Shamrock Shoot-Out medal.
With no let
down in excitement Seattle would face off against Keene for the
Championship. Both teams came off the bench with their eyes on
the Championship. Seattle’s scoring came from Jake Desharnais
with 1 goal and 2 assists; Mark Whitney adding1 goal and 2 assists;
Conner McIlquhan added 1 goal and 1 assist; Kevin Sviridyuk contributed
1 goal; Nicholas Scherbinin added an assist; Cartner with an assist
and Chris Kim with a goal. Keene’s scoring came from Tom
Hennegan notching 1 goal; Isiah Blair with an assist; Kevin with
an assist; Colin Stroshine contributed with a goal and Gunnar
Stone with an assist. Seattle skated past Keene by a score of
5-2 with Keene being presented the 2nd place trophy and Seattle
awarded the Championship Trophy. Players and Coaches were presented
Shamrock Shoot-Out medals.
The Peewee Tier IV Division kicked off their
games with hard hitting and fast skating. Friday saw Troy, NY
skating past Waltham, MA 5-0 with scoring for Troy coming from
Brendan Haverty notching 2 goals and 1 assist; Peter Hamlin contributed
1 goal and 3 assists; Joe Palin with an assist; Josh Bayer added
a goal and an assist; Connor Iwanicki with a goal and Ryan Smith
with an assist. Taylor Pincheon earned a shut-out.
The excitement
continued with Hanover, MA battling Schenectady, NY to a hard
fought 1-1 tie. The sole goal for Hanover came from Brien Meehan
assisted by Steve Cocce and Schenectady’s goal from Jake
Miller assisted by Justin St. Andrews.
Saturday
morning’s action picked up where we left off on Friday with
Schenectady, NY taking on Waltham, MA in the first game of the
day. Schenectady, NY skated past Waltham, MA 3-0. Scoring for
Schenectady came from David Zaccaria adding 2 goals; Chase added
an assist; Jake Miller contributed a goal with assists from Nick
Testa and Troy Bennett. Schenectady’s goalie Mark Stocker
earned a shut-out.
Troy, NY
took on Hanover, MA in an exciting game with Troy coming out on
top of Hanover by a score of 5-3. Troy’s scoring came from
Pete Hamlin notching 3 goals (a hat trick) and 2 assists; Brendan
contributing with 2 goals and an assist and Ben Mulsin with an
assist. Hanover’s scoring came from Steve Cocce with 1 goal
and an assist; Joe Byrne added a goal; Steve Cocce notched a goal
and an assist. Kevin Ghostlaw added 1 goal and an assist and Matt
Paschat with an assist.
The afternoon games saw no let down in excitement with hard-hitting
and fast skating. Hanover skated past Waltham by a score of 4-2
with goals coming from Kevin Ghostlaw with 3 goals (a hat-trick;
Kenny Cook added a goal and an assist; assists from Matt Brown
added 2 assist; Nick Stevenson with an assist, Joshua Justin Pope
with an assist. Waltham’s scoring came from Robbie Damigella
with 2 goals; Sean Roche added 2 assists and Kathryn Sharkey contributed
an assist. Schenectady,NY powered past Troy, NY by a score of
5-2. Schenectady’ scoring came from David Zaccaria with
a goal; Nick Testa contributed with 2 goals and 2 assists; Jake
Miller added 2 goals; assists by Justin St. Andrews, Troy Bennett,
Jack Fisher and Bryce Ward. Troy’s scoring came from Peter
Hamlin with 2 goals and Connor Iwanicki with an assist. This set
the stage for Sunday’s Consolation Game between Hanover,
MA and Waltham, MA and the Championship Game between Schenectady.
NY and Troy, NY.
On Sunday
4th place Waltham, MA took on 3rd place Hanover, MA in the Consolation
Game. The action was fast and the competition was fierce as Hanover,
MA took on Waltham, MA in a 3-2 game. Hanover’s scoring
came from Kevin Ghostlaw with 2 goals; Steve Cocce added a goal
and an assist; Matt Brown and Aaron Prenrtice contributed assists.
Waltham’s goals came from Alex Kirch added a goal; Matthew
Visco with an assist; Joe McCauley contributed an assist; Christopher
McKenna added a goal and Hunter Clutz an assist. Waltham went
home with the 4th Place Trophy, while Hanover took home the 3rd
Place Trophy. Shamrock Shoot-Out medals were handed out to all
players and coaches.
The Championship
Game between Schenectady. NY and Troy NY saw Schenectady skating
by Troy by a score of 5-2. Schenectady’s scoring came from
Justin St. “Andrews with a goal; Jake Miller with 2 goals
and 2 assist; Matt Chicco added a goal; David Zaccaria with a
goal; Troy Bennett with 2 assists and Nick Testa with an assist.
Troy scoring was from Brendan Haverty with 1 goal and an assist;
Peter Hamlin contributed a goal and Joe Palin with an assist.
In the end Troy took home the 2nd Place Trophy with Schenectady
taking home the Championship Trophy. Both players and coaches
received a Shamrock Shoot-Out medal.
The Tournament
Committee congratulates each team on their success in the 2nd
GSL Annual Shamrock Shoot-Out. We hope all teams had an enjoyable
weekend and will consider returning for the 3rd Annual Shamrock
Shoot-Out, March 5, 6, 7, 2010.
