New England Youth Sports February 22-24, 2008 at Gillette Stadium

Massachusetts Hockey is proud to have teamed up with the New England Youth Sports Festival for the second year. The goal of the New England Youth Sports Festival is to introduce children and parents to a wide variety of sports by active participation, seminars for parents and coaches, and introductions to the people who run the major sports organizations. Massachusetts Hockey will put out an all-star effort to introduce boys and girls to the sport of ice hockey during the Festival weekend of February 22-24, at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA.

Activities will include:

  • Skating clinics on a REAL 24x50 foot ice rink (see accompanying schedule) – sticks, skates and helmets will be available, but children are welcome to bring their own

  • The opportunity for moms and dads to take pictures of their children with the Stanley Cup

  • By showing their knowledge of the rules of hockey, kids of all ages will have the opportunity to win a t-shirt by scoring at least 9 out of 10 on the sample referee exam

  • Sunday, February 24th, 9 AM – 1PM – Boys and Girls ages 12 and over (with their paid admission to the festival) and adults will have the opportunity to attend the 3-hour Entry-level Referee Seminar followed by a 45-minute on-ice instructional session (bring skates and helmet) at NO additional charge (limit of 50 students), which is a savings of $20.00

We need your help to make this year’s Festival a great success. The GOAL of the Sports Festival is to get kids of all ages introduced to new sports. Everyone knows that a healthy body means a happy child and participating in sports is a great way to start.

We needvolunteers during the Festival to help distribute information, tie and untie skates, and keep an eye on Lord Stanley’s Cup. If you are interested in volunteering please contact a committee member as soon as possible.

Massachusetts Hockey has made a great effort to ensure the success of the program, but only through your active participation can we make a great introduction to young soon-to-be hockey stars. So please post the links to your websites, spread the word in the rinks and around town, and even volunteer to show everyone what a great organization Mass Hockey is and how great HOCKEY is!
