Springfield
Falcons Mike Egener's Sunday to Debut in Area Friendly's
SPRINGFIELD,
MA – The Springfield Falcons in conjunction with Friendly’s
Ice Cream are proud to announce a very special promotion starting
next week.
Beginning
Monday, February 26, 2007, Friendly’s will introduce the
Ut-O-Eggy-O sundae, a delicious ice cream sundae created by Springfield
Falcons defenseman, #48 Mike Egener. The sundae will be available
in Springfield area Friendly’s restaurants for a limited
time only. The sundae contains three flavors of ice cream –
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Coffee and Nuts Over Caramel. The
sundae also includes the following four toppings; caramel, marshmallow,
chocolate sauce and crushed Oreo’s, and finishes with whipped
topping and a cherry.
“The
sundae is really a combination of all my favorite ice creams and
toppings,” said Egener. “I am honored that Friendly’s
thinks my sundae will be a hit. Our team had a lot of fun creating
the sundaes and I am just glad mine was chosen.”
As
part of the Friendly’s and Springfield Falcons partnership,
the players and coaches were invited to the company’s Wilbraham,
MA headquarters last fall to create their own sundaes. A panel
of judges, consisting of Friendly’s executives, members
of the Falcons coaching staff and Kevin Collins, NHL’s Officiating
Manager, chose the winning sundae.
“The
sundaes were judged on name, taste, and appearance,” said
Andre Fuehr, Friendly’s Vice President of Research and Development
and one of the judges for the day. “The Ut-O-Eggy-O sundae
has it all – a creative, fun name, a great flavor combination
and the way it looks makes you want to dig your spoon right in
the sundae.”
To
kick-off the introduction of the new sundae, a special Falcons
Family Fun Night will be held at the Friendly’s restaurant
located at 65 Sumner Avenue in Springfield on Tuesday, February
27, 2007 from 6-8 pm. The event will feature Falcons players Egener,
#10 Dan Cavanaugh, and team mascot Screech. A portion of the Family
Fun Night proceeds will benefit the Springfield Falcons Charities,
Inc., which supports local children’s charities throughout
Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut.
