2006 GSL Evaluation Procedures

I. Evaluation:

  • Associations will select the evaluation division for each of their teams by submitting a team application with a player roster by Thursday, September 14th committee chair.
  • For associations with multiple teams, the GSL expects teams to be in Divisions I, II and so on rather than roster players of mixed skills.
  • Associations may request that a team move to a different division during, or at the immediate conclusion of, the Evaluation Period. A deadline will be set.

Only requests meeting the following criteria will be considered:

  1. The request must be submitted by the Association’s GSL Representative.
  2. The request must be in writing (email is preferred).
  3. The request must state the team’s record to date.
  4. The request must state the reasons why the team should be considered for movement.
  • The plan is to have the Evaluation Committee review the request, and work with the GSL scheduler to set up cross-division games to help determine the best place for the requesting team. This approach will also be used with “bubble teams”, whether or not a change request is submitted.
  • The Evaluation Committee will arrange for certain teams to be evaluated using the forms developed last year. Evaluations will consider observed skills, ages, bench activities, and overall maturity of players in addition to the information furnished by associations, so that recommendations made are appropriately supported.
